Unhitching Difficulty after Suspension Mods

I have a Blue Ox Aladdin and recently had sway bars and trac rods installed. (works great, steady steering, no sway).
Since then though, it has been tougher to unhitch my car. I wonder if this is because the coach suspension is now stiffer. Anyone else experienced this after suspension mods or should I look elsewhere for the cause?

RE: workhorse suspension

Not cheap but it was worth it - I fitted Roadmaster sway bars front and rear and 'track' rod bars front and rear (Davis front) Blue Ox Tiger rear. Now holds course like the proverbial train.
May consider a steer safe later but IMHO I feel that is more a band aid. But Hey! it works for a lot of people.

RE: Who has gone from a tow vehicle/trailer to a class A

Hi Dave, as you know, we just made the swap last year. Have to say I really love the MH. Really miss the Diesel 4x4 Ex though especially after I tricked it out with straight through exhaust and reprogram the chip. Ah well!! I now have a Saturn Vue!
My wife is happier in the MH and that is what counts. Not sure I could have afforded it though if we had sprogs. As some have said, it aint a cheap toy. Must say I prefer it to the trailer though.
I do like the implied safety of walmart stops, just drive off but then I never had problems before. Guess getting worried comes with getting older. Anyhow, our first major trip now coming up. Florida Yellowstone and Vegas and back to Florida, 3 months on the road. I'll let you know along the way how it goes. This is similar to last years trip length with the Ex and Trailer so it will be a good 3 month long comparison.
See Ya Sometime

RE: Fuel costs

On the plus side, If fewer people travel, it may help to hold down the per night cost at a campground - right! :R

RE: Florida bound

Slightly off Topic
You should consider homesteading in Florida. Much lower property tax and NO Income Tax.

RE: Class A w/ Toad On Blue Ridge Pkwy / Skyline Drive - Doable?

You need to think about fuel and some of the junctions on/off are on tight roads. Personally I would not take an A or my previous trailer on the BRP but yes it is doable. Check out the Web Site which a previous poster provided.

RE: SEWER SYSTEM, NEXT ONE ???

I used sewer solution on my Trailer very successfully for several years and am now using it on the Coach. It is even better on the Coach because the black tank has a built in flush system. I do carry a slinky in case I have to do a 'fast' dump at a rest area etc but so far have not used it.
I have been on sites where the sewer is slightly uphill of the Trailer and that was when the sewer solution was very useful. If Cost is not an issue, I would install a macerator pump but still use the sewer solution hose as it is smooth bore and does not trap particles of crud.

RE: what would be your choice?

We looked at used Diesels as well but we wanted to continue the RV life style without a break so we decided to trade in with a dealer which sort of ruled out the used diesel route. (Those available in our price bracket were decidedly shabby) This is why we went with a newer gas. In 3 years or so we will be in the market for a newish used diesel.

RE: what would be your choice?

Tough call. We set out wanting a Tiffen and would not have considered a Fleetwood but along the way we were also considering their product. In the end we bought a National RV Dolphin because it said 'buy me' to my wife.
The only say I had was in checking the Cargo Carry Capacity (CCC) to make sure we could actually haul our stuff around and tow our car within safe limits.
Some bonuses which were important to me came with the package. (not everyone here agrees with this but they were important to me) Workhorse Chassis - Allison Transmission, Longish wheel base to overall length, basement air, 22 inch tires, full body paint. The main deciding factor still being my wife. She loved the coach from the moment she set eyes on it and stepped inside.
At the end of the day, buy what you like with an eye to CCC and you will enjoy your RV experience.
